The Motorcycle Basic Rider Course  is designed for individuals with little or no riding experience. It presents skills that, when practiced by the student, are necessary for survival on the street.

The curriculum progresses at an aggressive pace. You should be aware of the following facts:

1. On the street, operating any vehicle (bicycle, car, motorcycle) brings with it both responsibility and risk. As with any human endeavor, the possibility of being seriously hurt or killed is always present.
2. Riding a motorcycle is much more difficult than riding a bicycle or operating a car. It involves a great deal of hand and eye coordination. You must be able to balance a two-wheeled vehicle, the same way a good bicycle rider can. If not, please practice before attending.
3. You should come to class in good physical condition, well rested, and must attend all sessions.
4. You will be required to push a motorcycle.
5. You will be required to read and study from the provided workbook.
6.

ReRealize that not everyone successfully completes this course. On average, about 70% of enrollees are successful.
Regardless, all students leave the course with a better understanding of how motorcycles interact with traffic, with the environment, and of their responsibilities as a rider.

7. During the course, you may discover, or be told, that riding motorcycles is not for you. For your safety and the safety of others, the Instructor may not allow you to continue.
8. The course is conducted during All weather conditions (rain, heat, cold, etc.). Come to each session prepared (appropriate clothing, snacks, extra drinking water.)
9. 1.      You must attend ALL sessions, in sequence. Any absence will require you to register for another course, pay again, and start from the beginning.
10. NO REFUNDS ARE ISSUED.
11.

If you plan to ride your own motorcycle onto the base in East Granby, a helmet must be worn to comply with Air Guard regulation.

12.

Course graduates will receive their waiver cards on the last day of class. Course completion cards will be received by mail within three weeks.

13.

You do not need a Motorcycle Learners Permit to get your Motorcycle Endorsement. If you want to ride before you get your Motorcycle Endorsement then you must obtain a Motorcycle Learners Permit from The Department of Motor Vehicles.

14. You will not be allowed to ride without the proper clothing.
For the Range sessions, you must bring the following:

Helmet (we can provide one if you don’t have your own)
Eye Protection (a face shield or approved eyeglasses)
Leather Gloves (with full fingers)
Leather over-the-ankle footwear (boots or athletic shoes)

Long-sleeved shirt and long pants
